 Japanese Brush Painting (all ages)
In this class students will enjoy an introduction to the uniqueness of Japanese visual art with Stella, a native of Okinina. Emphasis will be placed on the simple enjoyment of making images, while learning about the basic skills of Japanese painting, calligraphy, the use of Japanese ink. The instruction will include an introduction into the special characters that represent the spirit of Japanese culture. The complexity of the lessons will vary according to the age group.

Japanese Language & Culture Class (all ages)
Under the guidance of Stella, a native of mainland Japan and a specialist in Linguistic Methodology, children will be introduced to conversational Japanese and, in the older age groups, Chinese characters (writing). Learning a new and exotic language can be great fun, especially when augmented by
Japan story telling, history and culture. Film and video segments, related art projects, and colorful visual aids make this class rich and varied. Lessons will vary considerably according to age group. Japanese language classes  are conducted for children and adults throughout the academic year at the Brooks Peoples Academy & Arts.

 International Cooking Arts

There is food and then there is food of art! Join culinary artist at Brooks Peoples Academy & Arts for an introduction to making international dishes that are both delicious and artfully presented. Students will spend four days preparing and crafting four international dishes to share with family and friends on Friday, the last day of camp. Bring your taste buds and an apron! A $10 materials fee is required to help offset the high cost of ingredients and supplies.
