Brooks Peoples Academy and Arts Inspiring Creativity in Garland, TX

Brooks Peoples Academy and Arts was born from a dream to make music and art education accessible to all ages. Since 2006, Brooks Peoples has blended her experience in education, therapeutic art, and music to create a space where creativity is more than a hobby—it’s a pathway to growth, confidence, and community.

The Vision Behind the Academy

What started as a passion project has grown into a community-centered nonprofit. Brooks’ vision was simple yet powerful: to create a school where music and art could reach students of all ages, from beginners to advanced learners. She wanted art to be approachable, music to be life-changing, and education to be affordable.

A Story of Perseverance and Passion

Brooks’ journey began with a love for both teaching and the arts. With a degree in education and a background in special education and leadership, she built a foundation rooted in patience and encouragement. Along the way, she pursued scholarships in voice, learned piano and guitar, and developed teaching methods that inspire students to believe in themselves.

Making Art Accessible

Brooks’ first dream was to design an art curriculum that allowed everyone—even those who struggled to appreciate art—to connect with creativity. Today, the academy continues this mission by offering engaging art lessons, workshops, and group activities.

Music That Changes Lives

From the very first piano lesson, students often surprise themselves with what they can play. Brooks has witnessed countless inspiring stories, such as helping an elderly student perform “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for his wife’s anniversary. These moments highlight the academy’s belief that music is more than notes—it’s a gift of expression.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Serving the Community

Brooks Peoples Academy and Arts proudly partners with the City of Garland. One of the academy’s most meaningful programs allows students who have made mild infractions to complete community service through the arts. Instead of only facing penalties, these students discover new possibilities for growth. At the end of their service, they receive a free lesson in the instrument of their choice—a second chance wrapped in creativity. This approach not only helps individuals rebuild confidence but also shows the community how powerful art can be in guiding positive change. It is a program rooted in compassion, accountability, and opportunity.

Volunteer Programs That Make a Difference

Volunteers are the backbone of the academy. By contributing time and skills, they help expand programs, support local events, and inspire students. This spirit of giving strengthens not only the academy but also the wider Garland community.

Events That Build Confidence

Throughout the year, the academy hosts events that celebrate learning and self-expression. From Christmas and spring recitals to mic nights and art workshops, these gatherings bring families together and allow students to shine.

Looking Ahead

Brooks Peoples is now focused on growing the academy full-time, transforming it into a thriving hub for arts education in Garland. Her mission remains unchanged: to use music and art as tools for growth, confidence, and community connection.
